# Subtly

> Subtly helps teams create transcripts and translated subtitles from recordings with a shared workspace, REST API, and hosted MCP server. Teams use prepaid USD credits; there are no subscriptions.

Subtly fits teams that need transcripts inside their own app, subtitles to launch videos in new markets, training material in other languages, or interview transcripts. It is built by [Tigro](https://tigro.dev), an engineering studio.

The hosted MCP endpoint is `https://subtly.app/mcp`. It uses OAuth and requires the user to sign in, choose a workspace, and approve access. Remote tools accept accessible HTTPS source URLs, inline WebVTT up to 32 KiB UTF-8 for translation, or a completed transcription in the selected workspace. Translation from `source_job_id` requires an available managed VTT artifact. URLs cannot contain userinfo or depend on auth headers, which Subtly does not forward. Jobs run asynchronously; `get_job` returns up to 16 managed output links per call and supports pagination with `artifact_offset`. Translation requests support up to 16 output variants total. `read_output` returns up to 12 KiB of UTF-8 text, and managed download links expire within 5 minutes or sooner if the artifact expires. Hosted tools cannot access local paths or chat attachments automatically.
